しかし、その後、「あの教訓、実はハーバード大学と全く関係なかったんだけど、間違ったことは教えてないよね」と言われたら、たいていの人は怒るだろう。お金を払うことで、「騙された」ことが明確になったからだ。
お金を払うことで「騙された事を実感する人」は、「無料なら別にいいや！」と、自分の時間と感性を安売りしている人なので気をつけた方がいいが、怒る分だけまだマシだ。
なかには、お金を払って騙されても怒らない人もいる。 アムウェイやニュースキン、ハーバルライフといった、マルチまがいのレッツビギンや! ポジティブシンキングやで!系にハマっている人は、「これは悪い品じゃない。いや、とてもいい商品だ!!」と商品を勧めてくる。
アムウェイ eSpring 浄水器II 据置型は「140以上の不純物を除去しながら、ミネラル分を残すことができる」らしい。確かに悪い商品ではないみたいだが、お値段は12~17万近くし、カードリッジ1本3万近くする。ちなみに東レ 浄水器 トレビーノ カセッティ（高除去(13項目クリア)タイプ）は定価は1万2000円だが、アマゾンでは5000円。交換用カートリッジも4000円だ。 「悪くない」「別に間違ってない」で、思考停止する人はいいカモだ。
今回のハーバード大学図書館デマ騒動を見ていると、高価な浄水器をいっぱい買ってくれそうな人が意外と多いな~という印象を受けた。誰かリスト作ってくれないかな（笑）。
